TEEN MONEY 101

Teen Money 101 has arrived!

Stacia Morris has written the narrated workbook Teen Money 101 to teach teenagers about the concepts and use of money. This book was inspired by Stacia's teenage nephew and niece and is dedicated to the memory of her late father and educator.
Teen Money 101 is an introduction to financial education that every teen should have, especially in these challenging economic times. The book is formatted in a "Lights, Camera, Action" format. The "lights" introduce new terms in the chapter, the
"camera" depicts the teenagers stories, and the "action" provides activities to reinforce the chapter's concepts.

Teenagers today are not taught about money in a structured way. Based on the current world economic crises; what a unique time to teach our teenagers about money and finance. We can prepare the next generation to be financially responsible adults.

This workbook is intended for teenagers (ages 13 to 16). However, it can be used by any age group, as long as there is understanding of money and exchange.
In addition to teenagers working through the book on their own, Stacia's vision is to see the workbook used in facilitated classroom settings, in schools or after-school programs. The workbook should be facilitated over a period of 8 to 10 weeks, with weekly hour long sessions. However, due to the narrative style, the workbook definitely lends itself to use by individual teens, as a self-guided text.

The workbook was discussed in focus groups where classes were conducted for teenagers.  Quotes from the focus groups follow:

- This will teach me life skills to manage money.

- This will help us to have a better life.

- This will also help us to help our families.

- This is a skill everyone should have.

- Do a separate workbook for older teens.
