SCHOOLS & ORGANIZATIONS
In January 2009, Stacia has partnered with ACES and conducted a teacher's workshop, using her workbook and the Connecticut Curriculum standards as a base. The teachers have piloted their learning in 10 schools, with a vision to promote financial and economics learning among students in middle schools. ACES, Area Cooperative Education Services, "the Resource for improving Public Education in South Central Connecticut," services 25 school districts in the south central Connecticut region with hundreds of schools in the service area. To find out more about ACES, please visit www.aces.org.
The project's goal is to improve financial education in south central CT middle schools. There are only 9 states in the US, CT is not one of them, which include personal finance as a high school graduation requirement.
The following is an excerpt from the ACES grant: "ACES is partnering with Stacia Morris who has substantial economic and entrepreneurial expertise and will share one of her sources for students to understand finance and economics. ACES has a thirty-nine year track record of providing quality professional development for teachers and will use its pedagogic expertise to ensure teachers are able to take what they have learned to increase student knowledge of economics and finance, and foster increased teaching of finance in Connecticut schools and districts."
